Walker Art Center
While we love the Sculpture Garden, we can’t forget about all of the incredible happenings inside the museum itself. The Walker Art Center is one of the top five most visited modern and contemporary art museums in the country, and for good reason. Five exhibitions are currently on display, with 10 more coming up this year. They also offer classes and workshops, lectures, special performances and screenings. There’s always something to do and more to see at the Walker, compelling us to plan our next trip on the way out the door. Plus, admission to the gallery is free every Thursday from 5 – 9 p.m. and every first Saturday of the month. Free entertainment has never looked so good!
If you’re looking to really make an even bigger event out of your trip to the Walker, check out Cardamom, the new restaurant on the main level adjacent to the entrance is a partnership between Minneapolis Chefs/restaurateurs Daniel del Prado and Shawn McKenzie. A large, glass wall, modern décor and an outstanding menu influenced by the cuisine of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, make this casual restaurant a foodie’s dream and much more than a “museum restaurant”—this spot is a destination in itself!
