Uptown
An eclectic and vibrant area, Uptown is a hot spot for all things entertainment. Just a few blocks south of downtown on Hennepin Avenue lies a mecca of restaurants, bars and shopping. From cultural cuisine to healthy, modern fare, Uptown has a variety of incredible restaurants. Head over to Barbette for French-inspired cooking, an amazing wine list and a fantastic happy hour. If you’re looking to stick to your diet but you don’t want to miss out on flavor, try Agra Culture. With plates like the Uptown Paleo Plate, the Late Harvest Bowl, and a number of veggie-packed salads, there is no skimping on taste or portion size. For some activity with your meal, try Bryant Lake Bowl. Experience its retro bowling lanes and eat while you play!
Uptown is also known for their diverse art scene. Home to the annual Uptown Art Fair, this area contains a number of unique murals that represent Minneapolis. Be sure to take a look at the recently added Prince mural on 26th Street and Hennepin Avenue.
Head just a few blocks west and find the Chain of Lakes, consisting of Cedar Lake, Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, Lake Harriet and Brownie Lake. On sunny days, Bde Maka Ska is surrounded by runners, bikers, picnickers, skaters and dog-walkers. Take the 3.4 mile walk around the lake and enjoy the scenery and stunning view of the downtown skyline.
Experience the vibe for yourself, and you’ll understand why Uptown is such a popular hang-out spot every day of the week.
