Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Step into more than 1,200 acres of gardens, woods and trails at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The Arboretum was established by the University of Minnesota Horticultural Research Center in 1958 and it now serves as one of the most beautiful spots in the area for walking, hiking or simply taking in nature’s wonders.
Explore over 12.5 miles of trails and view 32 different gardens, 48 plant collections and over 5,000 plant species. Head to the Japanese Garden for some peace and relaxation. The nine-foot waterfall provides an environment of serenity and tranquility. Take a walk through the Rose Garden and be amazed by the vibrant colors and floral aroma. Don’t miss the spectacular Annual Garden which contains 25,000-30,000 annuals and has a different color scheme every year. Take advantage of the Three-Mile Walk, a three mile paved trail that takes you by many of the collections and landscapes. The Arboretum is a year-round destination and you’ll find yourself in awe no matter the season.
The Arboretum is perfect for all ages and truly has a dynamic array of activities. There are many things to explore from interactive games to special events and educational programs. Head to the Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center to learn about different types of bees, butterflies and other pollinators. You can even enjoy a delicious meal or cup of coffee on the gorgeous patio at The Eatery at the Arboretum.
