Bike Trails
As the weather gets warmer and the sun makes its spring debut, Minneapolis is filled with bikers eager to hit the trails (some hard-core locals will embrace their bikes all-year round — yes, even in the snow). With nearly 200 miles of recreational paths and one of the only fully urban scenic byways in the country, it’s no wonder Minneapolis has ranked 6th out of the top 50 Best Bike Cities in the U.S. Ride along the Mississippi River, roll up to your favorite local brewery, or simply enjoy the scenery and soak up the sun.
The Midtown Greenway, 5.5 miles of trail along a former railroad corridor, and West River Parkway along the Mississippi River are two of our local bikers' favorite trails. Reference our list of scenic Minneapolis rides for great rides with picturesque views of urban downtown and its surrounding nature that bikers of all levels will love.
To take advantage of these trails, rent a bike through the City of Minneapolis' bike share program. There are several stations around Minneapolis with blue racks of public bikes available for rental. Unlock a bike through the appropriate company's app (like the Lime or Lyft app), and you can sign up for memberships, bike passes, or single-ride fares.
