Minnehaha Falls
Minnehaha Falls is one of the oldest and most striking sights in Minneapolis. The crash of the water and the cool air rising from the basin, contrasted by an urban atmosphere makes it one of the most popular destinations in the city. Peer over the ledge from the top of the 53-foot waterfall or take the staircase down to the bottom and explore from a different angle.
There’s plenty to do around the Falls once you’re done appreciating the views. Take a stroll through Minnehaha Park and bring some snacks to set up lunch at one of their picnic tables. Even easier, dine at the seasonal restaurant right next door. Well-known for stand-out tacos and seafood, Sea Salt often packs a crowd so grab a beverage and enjoy the sights while you wait.
After you eat, take a hike on the trails stemming from the basin of the Falls. You’ll stroll past stone bridges and sandy beaches with the sound of the river trailing in the background. Or, bring your bike and go for a ride on the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway, the 50-mile bike loop spanning the Minneapolis area. If you brought your furry friend, head to the off-leash dog park for a good dose of exercise.
Get here one way or another. It’s truly something not to be missed.
