Wolves' Andrew Wiggins Named Kia NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month for February

Wiggins is first player since Lillard in 2012-13 to win four straight months

Minneapolis/St. Paul The NBA today named Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins as its Kia NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month for February. This is the fourth consecutive month Wiggins has earned the honor, the only player in franchise history to win the award multiple times. He's the first rookie to win the award in four straight months since Damian Lillard during the 2012-13 season.

Wiggins led all qualified rookies in scoring (16.8 ppg), FT attempts (5.4 per game) and minutes played (38.7 mpg) while ranking 3rd in blocks (0.82 bpg), 3rd in FT pct (76.3%), 4th in FG pct (45.7%), 8th in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and 10th in assists (2.3 apg).

Wiggins was named MVP of the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge on Feb. 13, as part of All-Star Weekend in New York, posting 22 points, six rebounds and four assists while leading Team World to a 121-112 victory over Team USA. Wiggins tallied 20+ points three times during the month. He netted 20 points in a 111-109 win against Phoenix on Feb. 20, moving him into 9th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list for teenagers (826). On his 20th birthday three nights later, he scored 30 points in a 113-102 loss at Houston, his third 30+point-game of the season (tying Isaiah Rider for the most ever by a Wolves rookie).

Originally selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 1st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Wiggins was acquired by the Wolves on Aug. 23, 2014 in a three-team trade. This season he leads all qualified rookies in scoring (15.8 ppg) and minutes (34.9 mpg), while ranking 4th in rebounding (4.3 rpg) and steals (1.14 spg), 5th in blocks (0.61 bpg) and 7th in assists (1.9 apg).
