WATTS UP:
ANTISERUM, HELICOPTER SHOWDOWN & CLICKS & WHISTLES
May 16 at Mill City Nights
Presented by AEG Live & Hydrive Shows
ANTISERUM
As a vanguard of forward thinking bass music, Antiserum continuously defines the sound of today. Spawned in a laboratory of collaborations with heavy hitters such as LA dubplate warrior 12th Planet, he has found himself continuously at the forefront of bass musics list key players. His releases on Smog Records and Caspas Dub Police label have established him as a mainstay of sub-heavy music.
Antiserums ability to inoculate should come as no surprise. His production Brick Squad Anthem, a collaboration with Atlanta-based music producer Mayhem, has received huge support from the bass community including Skrillex, Diplo, Datsik, and Flux Pavillion. His collaboration with 12th Planet on the Smog City Compilation, Bass Salt was featured on Rolling Stone and UKF and his remix of Helicopter Showdowns Can You Feel Me reached #2 on the beatport dubstep charts.
Antiserums BBC Radio 1xtra mix is a brief glance into the dynamic nature of his performance, during which he defies expectations of the listener and delivers an injection of what can only be described as the Antiserum. Upcoming collaborations with 12th Planet, Mayhem, Brillz, and a release on Datsiks Firepower label will likely dub him the patron saint of bass in 2013.
HELICOPTER SHOWDOWN
The four person Bay Area production force known as Helicopter Showdown has earned the reputation in the underground bass music culture as Wu Tang of Dubstep. These West coast bass monsters have been turning heads and crashing parties worldwide with their unique blend of heavy dubstep and melodic electro house. Having dominated the Bay Area bass music scene over the past year, HS has been called out of their homeland to perform and curate events all over the North America in cities such as Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, Montreal, and many in between. Supported by such highly respected artists as Rusko, Borgore, Mt. Eden, Calvertron, Skism, Downlink, and Reid Speed amongst others, their music is quickly being recognized everywhere from the most distinguished UK dubstep pioneers to the smaller pockets of bassheads in middle USA.
In the last year, after teaming up with close friend, collaborator, and UltraGore label mate/owner Sluggo, the HS crew smashed their way onto the Beatport charts with their debut release The Wrestler [Ultragore], followed by Hostages [Ultragore] and most recently Holy Ghost [Play Me] feat. MC Messinian. Recently HS has become even more of a household name in the Beatport Dubstep charts, planting themselves firm within the top 20 with their latest release Drop It Again with Calvertron off the Flight or Fight EP [Play Me]. They are currently finishing up their next Ultragore EP with Sluggo featuring the fresh vocal talents of Bryan Dallas and Young Aunde, and have a laundry list of collaborations in store that will make 2012 a marquee year for them.
Helicopter Showdown also stands out from the rest of the bass community due in part to their reputation for holding their fans in the highest regard, proving their love through their consistent efforts to give away FREE music; with highly acclaimed releases Gucci Gucci (Helicopter Showdown & IB Remix) [US Dubstep], Waiting with BoyKidCloud [Squitty Bubbler], Dramatron [Squitty Bubbler Most Popular 2011], Beat Down [Squitty Bubbler Most Popular January 2011] and the classic Whistle Tips with Point.blank [Dubsaw/Squitty Bubbler Most Popular October 2010] all given gratis to their hungry fanbase. HS even takes it one step farther, giving away free downloads of their signature sounds and production templates.
With their dedication to production, their fans, and taking their four person team onto the stage and turning any given party into a full blown event, keep a close eye on Helicopter Showdown as they bring the party from the West Coast underground to a city near you.
CLICKS & WHISTLES
Despite the fact they're new on the scene, Clicks & Whistles are already showing that they're one of the most intriguing and exciting production duos in the US. Starting out as a long distance collaborative production project between Petey Evans,24, and Jorge Hernandez ,27, they've both taken up residence in Charlotte, NC to focus on crafting their defining sound and spreading it to eager fans across the globe. That unique sound is comprised of many genres, including but not limited to: Southern rap and hip hop, dubstep, UK garage and funky, and everything in between.
The Clicks & Whistles sound has been perking the ears of some of the US's highly regarded electronic producers and labels as well. Starting with their Radiator/Cranberry Goose EP on Atlanta's Embassy Recordings, 2011 and 2012 will see forthcoming releases on Tittsworth and Ayres T&A Records and Kingdom's Fade to Mind imprint. There will certainly be plenty more on the horizon for this talented young duo, as they continue to expose the world to the unique sound of Clicks & Whistles.
