VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HOCKEY BLAST
Excelsior, Minn. (Nov. 22, 2011) - Over 300 volunteers are needed for Hockey Blast 2012 to be held January 20 22 outdoors on Lake Minnetonkas Excelsior Bay in Excelsior, Minn. The weekend will celebrate the States love of the sport and encompass two major events: the 2012 Pond Hockey North America Championship and the sixth annual Hockey Day Minnesota.
Sample volunteer positions include:
- Tournament Set-Up (early January) Responsible for set-up of the event will start as soon as the ice is thick enough. Various responsibilities will include placing of permiter fencing, building of thepond hockey rinks, signage installation and an on-call shovel team. Volunteers must be willing to work with a timeline as weather dictates and be able to handle physical labor.
- Referee Responsible for officiating pond hockey games to ensure fair and safe play.
- Ice Maintenance Responsible for maintaining ice rinks including filling cracks and shoveling.
- Special Events Responsible for support of a variety of special events taking place prior and during the tournaments, including banquets,
team registration, and more.
- Volunteer Check-In Responsible for supporting fellow volunteers by checking them in for thie shifts, distributing uniforms and directing
them to their posts.

Volunteers have the benefit of attending Hockey Blast events for free. But, if you want want to take the weekend off and enjoy the great game of hockey, spectator tickets are now available online by visiting www.hockeyblastminnesota.com. Regular tickets are available for single ($20) or three games ($50) and include parking. VIP tickets for all three games are also available and include VIP parking, prime seating for all three games, complimentary food and beverage in the VIP fishing village, all for only $100.
A portion of the proceeds of Hockey Blast 2012 will benefit local charities, including ICA Food Shelves, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Twin Cities Chapter, and the ALS Association, Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter.
