U.S. Premiere of FlyOver Canada at Mall of America
OH, CANADA! FLYOVER CANADA RIDE LAUNCHES AT FLYOVER AMERICA JUNE 8, 2017!
Thrilling Canadian Show Has its US Premiere in Nickelodeon Universe
at the Mall of America.
BLOOMINGTON, MN, June 8, 2017 – No passport will be required when you and your family experience FlyOver Canada, the spectacular multimedia ride that has enchanted hundreds of thousands of visitors at its Vancouver location and is now making its U.S. debut at FlyOver America inside Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America starting Thursday, June 8!
The FlyOver Canada footage was originally shot as part of a three-year, $16 million project involving teams based in Taiwan, Los Angeles and Vancouver, including former Disney Imagineers, to celebrate the people and landscapes of Canada. In both the FlyOver America and Canada attractions, guests sit suspended with their legs dangling 10 to 40 feet above the ground in ride vehicles, as they move in concert with the films – enlivened by the addition of special effects (mist, wind and scent), so riders feel like they’re truly flying. Now the FlyOver America experience will alternate every 15 minutes with showings of the new FlyOver Canada show. Check out a sneak preview of the FlyOver Canada ride here.
Minnesota visitors will begin their FlyOver Canada ride with the sun rising across the icepacks of Hudson Bay, Manitoba and climax with a dramatic scene of Aurora Borealis (“The Northern Lights”) rising through clouds, shot from a nose-mounted camera on a Lear Jet flown by ex-military pilots. You’ll also rocket across a 10,000-year-old iceberg in Newfoundland, drop over the cliffs at Gros Morne National Park, helicopter atop the forests of Quebec, dive across the Niagara Falls in Ontario, follow a herd of specially-trained “movie horses” across the wheat fields of Alberta, swoop across vineyards and heli-skiers in British Columbia, and witness the local First Nations paddling across Tofino and singing in the traditional Haida language. The entire FlyOver Canada show is accompanied by an original soundtrack recorded live by 61 musicians of the Vancouver Film Orchestra.
“If you thought that Canada was just about Mounties, maple sugar, lumberjacks and celebrities such as Celine Dion, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Bieber, you’re going to be absolutely stunned by the images in FlyOver Canada,” says Aaron Hunter, general manager of FlyOver America. “We’re expecting that once visitors watch FlyOver Canada at the Mall of America, they’re going to pull out their passports and join the 20 million visitors who actually travel to Canada each year. But you don’t need a passport to enjoy FlyOver Canada!”
Special Event: Don’t miss FlyOver Canada at the Mall of America on July 1, Canada Day, when special surprises will include Canadian-themed photo props and onsite activities including a putting green using a hockey stick and a Canadian trivia contest with prizes.
