Train Day May 5 at Union Depot with Historic Railcars and Locomotives, New and Vintage Buses, Model Railroads, Free Vintage Bus Tours and More
WHEN: Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHAT: Train Day is a free, annual celebration of all things transportation-related. The event will include historic railcars and locomotives for display and touring, new and classic buses, model railroads, vintage bus tours through downtown St. Paul, bicycle test drives, and more fun for all ages.

Bicycle Test Drives and Educational Information: The team at Lowertown Bike Shop will discuss the latest cycling trends and what to look for when purchasing a new or used bicycle.
Minnesota Transportation Museum Vintage Bus Tours: There will be free 45-minute Vintage Bus Tours through Downtown St. Paul, departing from Union Depot Gate Bat 11 a.m. and every hour until 3 p.m. Tours will make a stop at the Minnesota Transportation Museum where guest can either explore the museum (admission is required) or continue on the tour back to Union Depot. The last bus tour departs Minnesota Transportation Museum at 3:45 p.m.
Vintage Coach Buses: Guests can view the iconic 1959 General Motors 4104 coach that inspired the features and design of modern-day coach buses, and the Greyhound Scenicruiser No. 822, a two-level coach designed for Greyhound in the 1950s that resembled the popular railroad dome cars of the same period. The Scenicruiser became an icon and were operated by Greyhound into the mid-1970s. Paul von Fange, the author of the book “Scenicruising: The Greyhound Scenicruiser Story,” will be at Train Day selling and signing his book.
Displays of Historic and Modern Bus Transit Coaches: Guests can view the ultra-efficient, A Line Rapid Transit Bus which easily navigates busy urban streets but at faster speeds and offers passengers free Wi-Fi, and the iconic, historic, double-decker Greyhound Scenicruiser No. 822.
Model Train Displays and Demos: Train enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy the Granite City O-Gaugers of St. Cloud and their layout on display, along with the standard gauge display.
Train Day includes two ticketed events, a Friday Night Photoshoot of rail equipment, and LakerRail multi-media shows by top railroad photographers from California to Maine of railroads in action across the Midwest and United States.
Refreshments for Purchase: Crave Catering will be providing concessions throughout the day in the Head House and on the train platform.
Free Metro Transit Ride Passes: Train Day attendees will be able to download free Metro Transit ride passes to enjoy the ride to Union Depot on the Green Line or Metro Transit buses.
