Timberwolves to Participate in Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas
Minneapolis/St. Paul The Minnesota Timberwolves will participate in this year's Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. This summer will mark the eighth NBA Summer League in Las Vegas appearance for the Wolves (2006-10, 2012-14).
From July 11-21, 23 NBA teams and a team of NBA Development League select players will participate in a tournament-style format to crown the Samsung NBA Summer League Champion. Teams will compete in three preliminary round games from July 11-15 before being seeded in a tournament running through the Championship Game of July 21. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
This summer, 10 of the 12 teams that own Lottery picks in the 2014 NBA Draft presented by State Farm will take the court at Samsung NBA Summer League, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, who are slated to make the top three picks in this years Draft. Each team is expected to choose from an impressive crop of prospects that includes Australias Dante Exum, Dukes Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins from Kansas, and Kentuckys Julius Randle. Samsung NBA Summer League will feature many of these top prospects in their first taste of NBA action, along with other recent high draft picks, as well as undrafted rookies and free agents hoping to make their mark.
NBA TV will televise Samsung NBA Summer League games from Las Vegas with a complete schedule of games and broadcast information to be released at a later date. Additionally, fans will once again be able to watch, via a subscription-based package, every Samsung NBA Summer League game live on NBA.com and on the NBA Summer League app.
A year ago the Wolves went 3-3 in Summer League play, including making it to the second round of the inaugural Summer League Tournament. Minnesota is 18-18 all-time in Las Vegas.
Samsung, the official handset, tablet, and television provider of the NBA, Womens National Basketball Association (WNBA), and NBA D-League (NBA D-League), joins as the title partner of NBA Summer League for the first time this summer.
