Timberwolves Basketball Academy Clinics to Feature Christian Laettner
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Academy is holding two youth clinics that feature former Timberwolves player Christian Laettner on Saturday, March 21. Registration for the clinics is available now at www.timberwolvesbasketballacademy.com.
Both clinics will be held at Wayzata East Middle School, 12000 Ridgemont Ave. West, Plymouth. The first clinic at 9-11:30 a.m. is open to participants ages 9-13, and the second at 2-4:30 p.m. is open to ages 13-18. Cost to attend is $59. Each participant will have an opportunity to receive an autograph and group photo with Laettner.
Laettner was drafted by the Timberwolves with the third overall pick in 1992 NBA Draft. He spent three full seasons in Minnesota before being traded to Atlanta during the 1995-96 season. During his rookie season, Laettner averaged a career-high 18.2 points per game and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team. Prior to being drafted, Laettner was the only college player named to the 1992 U.S. National Dream Team that won a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics.
Laettners visit to the Twin Cities comes on the heels of the March 15 debut of the new ESPN 30 for 30 documentary that focuses on his career and polarizing fan reaction that followed him long after his game-winning shot that advanced Duke to the 1992 NCAA Final Four.
