MINNEAPOLISJonny Lang, the Grammy Award-winning Midwest native and fiery blues guitarist and singer, will play Hennepin Theatre Trusts State Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013. Lang, who was born in Fargo and was a one-time Minneapolis resident, returns to the State Theatre after his sold-out show with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Buddy Guy last March. He is currently working on a new CD, his first in seven years, due out this fall. An opening act will be announced later. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21. Named #14 on Comedy Centrals list of 100 greatest standups of all time, Newhart received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999 and was given the Mark Twain Award for American Humor in 2002. For nearly 40 years, the vocalese quartet has been known for putting their own spin on the sounds of jazz, R&B, pop, boogie woogie and swing. 1992s The Christmas Album, arranged by the legendary Johnny Mandel, remains one of the most popular holiday albums on the Columbia Records roster. Their Minneapolis show celebrates the groups 40th anniversary with a selection of hits plus seasonal tunes. There will be no opening act. Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday, June 21.
