THE DEPOT TAVERN’S EIGHTH ANNUAL DIAMOND DOG™ EATING CONTEST RETURNS TUESDAY, JULY 4

MINNEAPOLIS - May 31, 2017 - First Avenue and City Pages are delighted to present the eighth annual Diamond Dog™ Eating Contest on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Registration is now open and will remain open until July 1. The contest is an all-you-can-eat competition lasting ten minutes, and is held at The Depot Tavern, located at 17 N 7th St, Minneapolis, adjacent to First Avenue & 7th St Entry.

The annual contest puts six contestants on the clock to see who can eat the most Diamond Dogs™ in ten minutes. The Diamond Dog™ is a 1/4 lb. all-beef hot dog, wrapped in pepper bacon and deep-fried to create a perfect golden, crunchy finish – and is served on a hearty pretzel bun. Contestants compete for premium prizes: first place wins a Platinum Membership to First Avenue, ten pairs of tickets to First Avenue shows of their choosing, and a $50.00 Depot gift certificate. Second and Third Place finishers receive Gold Memberships, along with concert tickets and Depot gift certificates.

Mark Mallman, the two-year hosting veteran, will be on site encouraging contestants and updating the crowd with eating stats as the competitors chow down. Six local celebrities will judge, and double as cheerleaders for the contestants. Judges have been selected from all aspects of Minneapolis culture.
