Textile Center presents the Textile Garage Sale Pop Up
From October 5 through 7 the public will take part in the Textile Garage Sale Pop Up, which was created in response to huge year-round demand from the World’s Largest Textile Garage Sale, held in April every year. Festivities start with donation day on Thursday and culminate with the big sale Saturday, all held at Textile Center
As donations arrive Thursday, October 5, 10 am – 1 pm, more than 200 volunteers help sort, price and stock the heaping shelves. People drop off donations of unneeded fabric, yarn, thread, books, buttons, beads, looms, sewing machines, knitting machines, notions, and more! The volume of merchandise is phenomenal.
For Friday night’s Preview Sale (6 – 8 pm), die-hard shoppers buy tickets to have first dibs on all the Garage Sale Pop Up has to offer, including the “Oval Room” of premium merchandise, looms, and sewing machines. Music by D.J. Rey and refreshments, make the Preview Sale a truly fun affair.
Saturday’s sale (10 am – 4 pm will see shoppers line up hours before the doors open to partake in the heaps of merchandise filling Textile Center’s auditorium.
This is a highly anticipated, unique community event in the fiber art community. Artists, crafters, students, church groups and textile guilds shop for reasonably priced goods they can use in the year for their creative and service work. Donations are tax deductible, and proceeds support Textile Center programs. It’s a zero-waste event—the ultimate in recycling as tens of thousands of dollars-worth of materials are found new homes rather than thrown into landfills.
