SHAPESHIFT presents XI:XI The Awakening
At The Cowles Center
Minneapolis, MN, January 2015 The Cowles Center for Dance & the Performing Arts is excited to be hosting SHAPESHIFTs XI:XI The Awakening opening February 6 in the Goodale Theater. SHAPESHIFT is a fresh new hip-hop dance collective of 17 members who fuse different styles of dance to tell stories.
XI:XI The Awakening tackles the complexities of romance, self-worth, self-awareness, our dreams, how events impact us, and how predicaments awaken us to new perspectives in our world.
Performances are Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 8 at 2:00 pm. SHAPESHIFT productions are passionately produced and lead by Herb Johnson and Ashley Selmer, two highly experienced and well-established dancers/choreographers in the Minneapolis dance community. From recent collaborations with Princes 3rdEyeGirl to Americas Got Talents popular crew iLuminate, Selmer and Johnson continue to broaden their extraordinary talents. In October 2013, SHAPESHIFT performed at WeDay at the Xcel Energy Center in front of 18,000 strong, landing them a front-page photo in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Last September, the company premiered its most recent production at The Lab Theater and it was met with laughter, tears and standing ovations.

The Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts (501(c) 3) is the Twin Cities' newest arts center and the flagship for dance in Minnesota.
