MINNEAPOLISThe Script, the Dublin-based Celtic soul male rock trio that fuses pop, rock, soul, and contemporary R&B, returns to Minneapolis by popular demand to play Hennepin Theatre Trusts Orpheum Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012. They are touring in support of their third album, #3, to be released in September 2012. The groups sophomore offering, 2011s Science and Faith, debuted at #1 in Ireland and the UK, following the success of their self-titled debut album and massive platinum selling single Breakeven, which sold two million downloads in the U.S. The Script is produced by AEG Live. The Script is vocalist and keyboard player Danny ODonoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power, who founded the trio in 2001. With a sound inspired by influences such as U2, the Neptunes and Van Morrison, their work showcases emotion packed songs containing fluid melodies, haunting hooks and soulful vocals riding high over anthemic choruses. The group first came to prominence when their 2008 debut single, We Cry, reached #9 on the Irish singles chart and #15 on the UK singles chart. They also performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Norway and received an award at the World Music Awards for Best Selling Irish Act of 2008.
Their debut album peaked as the 18th best-selling album in the UK, followed by being selected as VH1s You Oughta Know artist and appearing on MTVs The Hills. Appearances include The Late Show with David Letterman, NBCs Today and a performance on VH1s Unplugged. The group won awards for Best Irish Album and Best Irish Band at the 2009 Meteor Music Awards, Irelands national music awards.
