The Saint Paul Hotels English Garden Receives Blooming Saint Paul Award
Saint Paul, Minn. (January 2015) The Saint Paul Hotels 6,500-square-foot English garden has received an Outstanding Gardening Advocate Award from Blooming Saint Paul.
Blooming Saint Pauls Outstanding Gardening Advocate award is given to an individual or group whose actions have been exemplary in promoting and supporting gardening efforts in Saint Paul and the Blooming Saint Paul awards program over the last ten years. Blooming Saint Paul, a cooperative initiative created to beautify the Citys urban environment, combines the efforts of many local organizations, City departments, and community members to create a more vibrant, more vital, more natural environment.
The Saint Paul Hotels garden is planned and maintained year around by Sara Orvik, the hotels full-time horticulturalist. Orvik has masterminded the evolution of Saint Pauls best-loved downtown garden for 15 of the gardens 20 years.

The Saint Paul Hotels award-winning, 6,500-square-foot, English garden has provided an urban oasis of year-round natural beauty in downtown Saint Paul since 1994. While the hotels English garden includes a variety of evergreens, including juniper, yew, and euonymus shrubs, the gardens prime season is from April to October each year, when thousands of flowers join the garden-scape, filling the Rice Park area with color and fragrance.
Sara Orvik has been The Saint Paul Hotels full-time Horticulturalist since 1999, planning and maintaining one of the best-known and best-loved urban gardens in the Minnesota. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Horticulture with an emphasis in Floriculture from the University of Minnesota, but she credits most of her passion for gardening to growing up on a Minnesota farm. Orviks work with The Saint Paul Hotels English garden has received numerous awards, including the Golden Bloom Award from the City of St. Paul and the St. Paul Garden Club for excellence in business and institutional gardening.
