At the Minneapolis Marriott City Center, Bertram is the strategic and operational leader of the 583 room convention hotel with 42,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. A 32-year veteran at Marriott, he began his career with the company in 1982 with Marriott Management Services. He has held several positions including Director of Event Management, Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Sales & Marketing, Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager and General Manager in Cleveland, Denver and currently in Minneapolis. As General Manager of the Cleveland Airport Marriott, the property was named the Western Region Hotel of the year in 2010.

He is currently a member of the Greater Minneapolis Hotel Association and serves on the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District’s SafeZone advisory committee.

Bertram holds a Bachelors of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management from South Dakota State University, a Masters in Business Administration from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, and a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell University.

Meet Minneapolis currently has 44 members on its board, representing local businesses, corporations and public organizations from a variety of industries. Board members apply their strategic expertise and extensive knowledge of the city to reinforce Minneapolis’ tourism and hospitality growth strategies.
