Sunday, August 7 on St. Paul’s Grand Avenue
St. Paul, Minn. (July 14, 2016) --- St. Paul’s Grand Avenue kicks off the dog days of summer with the annual Paws on Grand presented by Bubbly Paws Dog Wash on Sunday, August 7 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Pets and their owners will enjoy discounts and deals at dozens of Grand Avenue businesses. A number of local animal rescue organizations will also benefit from the day’s festivities.
Highlights of the 2016 Paws on Grand will include:
- Pet Photo Contest at Keller Williams — Odd Couple Team (1460 Grand Avenue)
Do you have the cutest pet on all of Grand Avenue? Of course, you do! So, have your pet’s photo take at Keller Williams – The Odd Couple Team’s office and enter to win gift cards and prizes.
- Pet Photo Booth at A. Johnson & Sons Florist (1738 Grand Avenue)
Visit A. Johnson & Sons Florist photo booth with your pet and receive a free flower boutonniere.
Five $25 gift cards will be awarded for the most unique “pet with flowers” photo.
- Pet Fashion Show at Coulee Bank (742 Grand Avenue)
Human and animal models will be sporting fashions from Arc's Value Village on Coulee Bank’s front patio. All dogs will be available for adoption from Coco's Heart Dog Rescue.
- Pet Portaits at Wet Paint Artist's Materials and Framing (1684 Grand Avenue)
Simply make a donation to People and Pets Together and receive a complimentary pet portrait, while time and supplies last. You’ll also have the opportunity to take a pet portrait class on August 10 and 12.
- The Workin’ Dogs Band at Grand Groomers (956 Grand Avenue)
With guitars, banjos and harmonicas, this band will share original songs throughout the day such as “I’m My Mushin’ Mama’s Pit Crew,” “Searchin’ and a ’Scoopin’”, “Bushy Tails on Snowy Trails,” and “Down by the River Bend with my Canine Friends.”
- Author Claire Buchwald at Red Balloon Bookshop (891 Grand Avenue)
At 1 p.m., Minnesota author Claire Buchwald will do a reading of her latest picture book, “Friends in Fur Coats.” Meet adoptable dogs from B.A.R.K. and get a free doggy ice cream treat with a donation.
Grand Avenue is home to more than 280 businesses, 180 of which make up the Grand Avenue Business Association. Most are locally-owned and have been on the Avenue for more the 30 years.
