Norwegian Ambassador to Attend Saturdays TC Kids Country Fun Run
Como Park Event Will Feature Norwegian Village on 200th Syttende Mai
St. Paul, Minn. May 15, 2014 Norways Ambassador to the United States, Kåre R. Aas, is scheduled to attend Saturday mornings TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run at Como Park in St. Paul. The childrens running and fitness event, which gets underway at 9:00 a.m., is organized by Twin Cities In Motion, host of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and an array of year round running events in the Twin Cities.
The ambassador will be joined at the event by the Norwegian Honorary Consul General Gary Gandrud. The pair, along with executives from Medtronic, sponsors of the Medtronic TC Kids Marathon Program, and Twin Cities In Motion will greet children and parents participating in the event and celebrate Norwegian Independence Day, Syttende Mai, which coincides with the event.
This years TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run will feature a Norwegian Village sponsored by Norway House in honor of the 200th anniversary of Syttende Mai. The Norwegian Village will include games, storytelling, Nordic music, and language games sponsored by the Skogfjorden, the Concordia Norwegian Language Village.
The TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run, which runs from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, will feature more than 1,000 preschool-to-middle school-aged kids running in cross country races ranging from a half-mile to 5K (3.1 miles) in length.
