New Survey of Hotels in Minneapolis Provides Details on Availability Prior to the Big Game
Minneapolis (Jan. 23, 2018) – One of the most frequently asked questions is whether or not hotel rooms are still available for the Big Game. In a recent Meet Minneapolis survey, 86 percent of participating Minneapolis hotels stated their hotel properties have no availability the weekend of the game. Visitors looking to stay downtown will have more choices this weekend, while the best opportunity to find a hotel room, close to the action and excitement, will be Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 29-31. The survey was conducted Jan. 8-17, 2018, and includes responses from 28 Minneapolis hotels.
“For quite some time, we have been encouraging people to consider coming and staying in Minneapolis towards the start of the 10-day festivities, because there would still be some available hotel rooms. Based on this recent data from our hotel partners, we see that’s still the case,” said Brent Foerster, Senior Vice President Destination Sales for Meet Minneapolis. “While visitors may find pricing is higher than usual for this time period, this is far from a typical January. Plus, there are many advantages for the visitor, including quick access to all of the great venues and activities.”
In the Meet Minneapolis hotel survey, Minneapolis hotels were asked:
Do you currently have any rooms available Jan. 26-28?
Yes | 57% |
Yes, but very limited | 18% |
No rooms available | 25% |
Do you currently have any rooms available Jan. 29-31?
Yes | 67% |
Yes, but very limited | 22% |
No | 11% |
Do you currently have any rooms available Feb. 1-4?
Yes | 4% |
Yes, but very limited | 10% |
No | 86% |
When asked, “If you are holding rooms or room blocks, do you anticipate any rooms being released for Feb. 1-4?” 75 percent of respondents stated “no rooms available,” while 21 percent indicated “Yes, but very limited.” (The remaining 4 percent are not holding any rooms.)
