FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs Celebrates its 25th Anniversary and Partners with area Fortune 500s for Summer Events
Minneapolis, MN June 21, 2013 The National Society of Hispanic MBAs Mpls / St. Paul Chapter, well known and regarded for its commitment to higher education and the promotion of Hispanic Talent in the Community, will host its 25th Anniversary Bash on July 11th 2013 at SOLERA Restaurant in Minneapolis.
The local chapter stands out nationally amid 38 chapters and won chapter of the year for 2012. For two mid-sized Midwestern cities one might rightly ask why the local chapter is so large and successful. Their success is largely due to: 1) a large number of diversified Fortune 500 companies headquartered here, many of which sponsor or support NSHMBA, including some multinational retailers who are aggressively targeting and serving the needs of the Hispanic community; 2) another reason is that over the years the local chapter has had an engaged and diverse board which is currently the biggest in the nation. This sizable board is currently led by Fernando Duque who moved here from Colombia over ten years ago in large part to purse an MBA and corporate work. Duque cites NSHMBA and area universities as a significant part of the reason as to why he has melded well into the local business scene holding management roles with Coca-Cola and presently at Target, but his story could be any NSHMBA members story for the diversity of NSHMBA spans from Mexico to Argentina and more.
Over the last number of years the local chapter has brought together Hispanic Professionals through scholarships, and professional development events. During all of those years they have impacted many Latinos and Latinas around the country by rallying companies and non-profits, and they are making a big and positive impact in the private sector, public sector and our local community. We celebrate with and thank our sponsors, members, community leaders and current and former officials of our local chapter, and we invite you all to learn more about NSHMBA at our 25th Anniversary Bash on July 11th, 2013, and we encourage you to check our website at www.nshmba.org/msp or Facebook at www.facebook.com/nshmbatwincities to stay in the know about our three summer events.
