Minnesota Lynx Begin Season with Road to Repeat
15 Days of Events Lead Up to the Home Opener on Sunday, May 20
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL Beginning May 5, the Minnesota Lynx will celebrate the start of the 2012 season with a variety of events around the Twin Cities. Dubbed the Road to Repeat, the Lynx will be present in the community for 15 consecutive days with marketing and community events leading up to the 2012 Home Opener, presented by General Mills, on Sunday, May 20 at 11:30 a.m.
The following are some of the Road to Repeat highlights:
Saturday, May 5: Maya Moore will make an appearance at AME Sports in Rosedale Mall. Moore will pose for pictures and sign autographs for fans that attend from 3-4 p.m.
Sunday, May 6: The Lynx will be a part of the Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon, handing out Lynx memorabilia and prizes to the participants.
Monday, May 7: Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson will throw out the first pitch prior to the Minnesota Twins game vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at 7:10 p.m.
Thursday, May 10: The Lynx open up their preseason schedule with a game against the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Sunday, May 13: Prowl and the Lynx will be at the Health Expo during the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which raises funds and increases awareness of breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.
Tuesday, May 15: Fans will have the first chance to see the 2012 Lynx in person for their preseason game against the Chicago Sky at 12 p.m. at the University of Minnesotas Sports Pavilion. Gopher legend Lindsay Whalen will play at the University for the first time as a member of the Lynx.
Friday, May 18: Members of the Lynx front office and Prowl will hand out breakfast in the skyway outside of the Timberwolves Administrative Offices. Juice from Old Orchards will be provided, along with pastries from SuperMoms.
Saturday, May 19: The Lynx will join the Twin Cities Heart Walk at Target Field Plaza, bringing along some great Lynx games that give fans a chance to win exclusive Lynx prizes. Lynx mascot Prowl will be a part of a mascot race, featuring mascots from around the Twin Cities.
Sunday, May 20: The 2012 Home Opener, presented by General Mills, begins at 11:30 a.m. as the defending champion Lynx face off with the Phoenix Mercury in a rematch of last seasons Western Conference Finals. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
