Minneapolis Green Business Awardees
2017 green business awardees announced
Minneapolis businesses saving on energy bills, reducing pollution
since 2012
June 5, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) The City’s green business cost-sharing programs are fueling investment in clean air technologies. Since the City launched the programs in 2012, 74 businesses (including the 2017 applicants) are investing six times the City’s share in the programs to prevent a total of 116,253 pounds of “criteria pollutants” in the air annually. Criteria pollutants directly affect health and contribute to regional air pollution. The 74 businesses will also remove 16.36 million pounds of the carbon dioxide that contributes to climate change by the end of 2017. This is the equivalent of taking 1,568 cars off the road.
The 2017 business awardees for clean air projects in pollution reduction and energy efficiency are:
- Elite Cleaners.
- Dinsmore Cleaners.
- Prospect Foundry.
- Longfellow Market.
- Allied Parking.
- Taqueria La Hacienda.
- Mercado Central.
There is a clear connection between pollution from energy used, environmental impacts and health in communities. The funds for the program come from pollution control fees that businesses pay to the City.
