Minneapolis Breaks All-Time Hotel Records
Taylor Swift concerts, Twin Cities Pride Festival and Kiwanis International Convention pace Minneapolis hotels to huge weekend
Minneapolis (June 28, 2023) – Last week was a big one in Minneapolis as an estimated 500,000 people visited the city for one or more of the many events, including Taylor Swift at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Twin Cities Pride Festival at various sites around the city, the Kiwanis International Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC), and/or all the theater, sports, music and business events that downtown regularly hosts.
All those events translated into a record-breaking weekend for the city:
- On Friday-Saturday, June 23-24, Minneapolis set a new all-time record for total hotel rooms occupied on a weekend with 19,531.
- On Friday, June 23, Minneapolis matched its highest occupancy night of 2023 at 96.3%. That mark was also reached on Tuesday, June 13 with the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships at the MCC, a Twins-Brewers game at Target Field, and other events in the city.
- The 9,888 hotel rooms occupied on both June 13 and June 23 were an all-time high for a single night in Minneapolis hotels.
- The 96.3% hotel occupancy was the highest since Oct. 24, 2019 (97.5%).
- Minneapolis hotels recorded nearly $6 million in total guest room revenue on Friday-Saturday, June 23-24.
