Midwest Poultry Federation to Put Turkey Sandwiches in the Hands of the Homeless
Minneapolis (March 12, 2019) – People experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis will be the focus of an upcoming sandwich-making event at the Minneapolis Convention Center Thursday, March 14. The Midwest Poultry Federation, along with Meet Minneapolis, Kelber Catering and Jennie-O, will make 1,200 sandwiches for those in need. Allan Law, founder of Minneapolis Recreation Development and commonly known as “The Sandwich Man,” will distribute the sandwiches that night.
“Our attendees are acutely aware of the importance of food in our lives and they also know many people in our local community grapple with food insecurity,” said Midwest Poultry Federation Executive Director Steve Olson. “As an organization we’re proud to work with our partners and Allan Law to help those who need it the most.”
This is the second consecutive year Midwest Poultry Federation has worked with Kelber Catering, the Convention Center’s onsite catering company, as well as Meet Minneapolis and Jennie-O to make turkey sandwiches. Last year’s event resulted in 800 sandwiches for distribution to people in need.
Details for the March 14 sandwich event:
- Inside Hall A at the Minneapolis Convention Center beginning at 11 a.m. until supplies run out.
- Convention attendees will assemble 1,200 sandwiches to be distributed that night.
- Media are welcome to attend for photos, video and/or interviews.

This event takes place during the Midwest Poultry Federation Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This is the largest regional convention in the U.S. that features all segments of the poultry producing industry.
