With the worldwide spotlight on Minneapolis, it’s one of many ways the tourism board is leveraging the Big Game
Minneapolis (Jan. 24, 2018) – Ahead of the Super Bowl, Meet Minneapolis, the official tourism association of Minneapolis, has unveiled a relaunched website at Minneapolis.org. The new website includes expanded neighborhood content, updated imagery and video, and a dedicated Super Bowl section with a detailed events calendar.
“We wanted to let visitors know, ‘You’ve never met a place quite like this’ and showcase both the expected highlights but also the lesser-known attractions, restaurants and businesses,” said Courtney S. Ries, Vice President of Destination Branding and Strategy. “Minneapolis is a city teeming with creative energy and our new website underscores that appeal.”
A helpful resource for both local residents and visitors, just in time for the National Football League’s premier event, is the dedicated Super Bowl section. It features top picks happening around the Minneapolis Saint Paul area, a special events calendar, transportation information and a guide to the Skyways. Patriots and Eagles fans can also find articles relevant to their favorite team.
Meet Minneapolis’ influence in highlighting the city and its attributes as a world-class destination for business and leisure travelers reaches far beyond the website. Specific to the 10 days leading up to the game:
- Meet Minneapolis is working together with Visit Saint Paul, Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee and has helped distribute more than 35,000 buttons to front line hospitality staff and 10,000 decals to area businesses while leading six training sessions for hotel, transportation and other customer-facing employees.
- Visitors can enjoy extended visitor hours and special events at Minneapolis Visitor Information at 5th and Nicollet, near the entrance to Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon. Its hours will mirror those of the events taking place on Nicollet. Meet Minneapolis staff will also assist at the official Super Bowl Host Committee Information Booth located at 8th and Nicollet.
- To further support sales efforts for future conferences, conventions and major events, Meet Minneapolis is hosting approximately 80 meeting planners, tour operators and events rights holders in the days before kickoff, including five clients at the championship matchup. These customers represent regional, state-wide and national groups in the corporate and association sectors.
“The vibrancy and efficiency of the city will be on display during the entire 10 days of Super Bowl activities,” said Melvin Tennant, President and CEO of Meet Minneapolis and Executive Director of Sports Minneapolis. “We know that the combination of our world class facilities, walkable downtown and welcoming residents will demonstrate to our clients that we are a great destination for their event, no matter what the season.”
Finally, throughout the run up to the Big Game, the Meet Minneapolis PR staff is available to assist local, national and international media through our updated imagery, b-roll video and interviews. More information is available a
