Medtronic TC Family Events Offer Fun and Fitness for Kids of All Ages
Olympian Carrie Tollefson and Family Will Join the Action
St. Paul, Minn. September 17, 2013 Twin Cities In Motion is inviting families and schools from across the Twin Cities metropolitan area to participate in the Medtronic TC Family Events on Saturday, October 5 at the State Capitol grounds, the finish line for the next days Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Medtronic TC 10 Mile.
A morning full of events for kids from the Diaper Dash, presented by Pioneer Press, and Toddler Trot to the 11th annual Diana Pierce Family Mile, presented by Medica and the Half Mile, presented by KS95 is designed to allow families to be active together, whatever the distance and show children that an active, healthy lifestyle is fun and rewarding. The Medtronic TC Family Events also include the TC 10K, presented by TomTom, and TC 5K Run/Walk, presented by Fredrikson & Byron.
Olympian Carrie Tollefson, who will make her marathon debut at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, will be on hand cheering on her own youngsters. The Minnesota star will be joined at the races by her parents, sisters, and a total of 15 members of her family who, under the banner Tollefson Tackle Twin Cities will participate in an array of Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events. Tollefson is chronicling her training on her weekly online show C Tolle Run at ctollerun.com.
We believe youre never too young for the rewards of an active life and building healthy habits, Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said. Its inspiring to see the Capitol Grounds filled with happy, healthy kids striving to get the most out of themselves.
More than 6,000 children and adults will participate in the days events, while another 12,000 spectators will create an encouraging and festive atmosphere. Each participant will receive a T-Shirt and a medal. A Family Activities Tent will feature more than 25 organizations providing family-centered activities and services. The event also includes entertainment provided by Radio Disney and the ever-popular Harry and Shellys Mascot Invitational.
Twin Cities In Motion is committed to building healthy lifestyles in families and breaking down barriers to participation. More than 4,000 kids and over 50 schools participate in TCM childrens events which span the year. Since 2007, children at TCM events have run a whopping 295,000 miles more than the distance between the earth and the moon!
Twin Cities In Motion is committed to making sure every child has the opportunity run one of its events, whether with their family or with their school.
