In the last few months, the national conversation to has been filled with fierce debates, from Charlottesville to New Orleans, about how the U.S. remembers its past through war memorials and monuments.

Larry Bond, author of "The Mighty Fallen: Our Nation's Greatest War Memorials," will give an illustrated talk on U.S. war memorials, the power of memory and more at Historic Fort Snelling on Friday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Bond is a Navy veteran who coauthored the international bestseller "Red Storm Rising" with Tom Clancy and is a five-time New York Times bestselling author.
