Minneapolis (Aug. 2, 2018) – Today, Nicholas Ntalo, a senior front desk host at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, has been named the “Hospitality Hero” award winner for the second quarter of 2018 by Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association. The award is given quarterly to a member of the Minneapolis hospitality community who has been nominated by their colleagues. This honor is for an individual or company that has made valuable contributions to the image and culture of Minneapolis through outstanding hospitality and service.
Ntalo has been serving the Minneapolis community at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis for the past three years. During this time, he has embodied the true definition of hospitality. In the first half of 2018 alone, Ntalo has been mentioned in guest surveys 18 times for his outstanding service.
Georgia Jimenez, Director of Operations at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, nominated Ntalo, emphasizing his leadership ability amongst his team and his unwavering commitment to both guests and his coworkers. “He approaches every day with undeniable positivity and a desire to serve. He advocates for our guests by putting himself into their shoes in each interaction,” said Jimenez. “He is able to display empathy in a way that is not commonly seen in customer service and cannot be taught.”
Ntalo was praised on social media when he went above and beyond to make sure he understood the best way to communicate with hearing impaired guests attending the Hearing Loss of America conference. He was recognized for taking the time to understand and use the hearing loop devices properly in order to communicate effectively with these guests. On the first day of the conference, the hotel received a tweet with a picture of Nicholas smiling that read, “Kudos! Nicholas @Hyatt registration desk made every effort to use the #hearingloop right!”
According to Jimenez, another guest expressed how much of a significant impact Ntalo’s warm greeting and check-in interaction had on his day and life perspective.
“He found Nicholas’ positivity to be contagious and it reminded him that to be a leader you must be positive and energizing just as Nicholas had been,” Jimenez added. “The team at Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is incredibly fortunate to have Nicholas as part of our family and cannot wait to see what he accomplishes next.”
