THE FRAY & BILLY CURRINGTON TO HEADLINE PRIOR LAKE
ROTARY’S LAKEFRONT MUSIC FEST JULY 14 & 15
Largest Music Fest in South Metro to Feature Grammy Nominated Country and Rock Music Artists
PRIOR LAKE, Minn. (June 1, 2017) – Award winning artists have again been secured for Prior Lake Rotary’s Lakefront Music Fest in Prior Lake, MN. The two-day festival on July 14 & 15, now in its 8th year, features one night of rock music and one night of country music and takes place at Lakefront Park. The Fray, who broke into the rock music spotlight with chart-topping songs, will be the headlining act on Friday, July 14. Billy Currington, well known for his upbeat summer country music anthems, will be the headliner on Saturday, July 15.
“We’ve worked hard to feature national artists we feel will appeal to the audience that has come to enjoy our event over the years.” said Guy Selinske, Lakefront Music Event co-chair. “We are thrilled to have Billy Currington and The Fray to help us produce an event that benefits non-profit organizations in our community.”
The event was created by the Prior Lake Rotary Club and is proud to have the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) and Mystic Lake Casino Hotel as Exclusive Presenting Partners. The Rotary shares ticket sales from the festival with the following community partners: YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities, and Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools’: Laker Athletic Booster Club (LABC), Patrons of the Arts and Activities (PAA) and Parents, Teachers and Children (PTC). New this year is a raffle for the opportunity to win a 2017 Chevy Colorado, courtesy of Exclusive Raffle Sponsor, Jeff Belzers’.
The Fray, a Grammy nominated artist, continues to entertain fans with their distinct songs and stage presence. The Denver-based group formed in 2002 after high school friends Isaac Slade and Joe King bumped into each other at a local guitar shop. The Fray achieved national success with their 2005 debut, featuring the hit singles "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How to Save a Life," which went double-platinum. They received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2010 for their self-titled album.
Currington has scored eleven career No. 1 singles since debuting his self-titled album in 2003, most recently “It Don’t Hurt Like it Used To.” He also has received a number of other honors including “Hottest Video of the Year” honor at the CMT Music Awards, ACM Nomination for Top New Male Vocalist and received Grammy nominations for Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song.
David Nail, also a Grammy nominated Country artist, is performing at the event on Country night prior to Currington. Additional artists to be announced soon.
