Brother Ali has earned wide critical acclaim for his deeply personal, socially conscious, and inspiring brand of hip-hop. Under Rhymesayers Entertainment, he’s unleashed a series of lauded projects, including his latest chapter, All the Beauty in This Whole Life—the Minneapolis MC’s first release in over five years. Brother Ali performs at First Avenue with Evidence, Nur-D, and DJ Last Word on December 19.
Of Soul Asylum’s Twin Cities roots, frontman Dave Pirner told Billboard, “It was kind of like the three musketeers of the local punk rock scene trying to make something out of themselves…we had an amazing amount of blind ambition.” The band returns to the First Avenue Mainroom on Friday, December 27 with Local H and Porcupine.
After swiftly selling out a two-night residency in the 7th St Entry this November, First Avenue welcomes Poliça to the Mainroom with Wilsen on Friday, April 10. This news comes fresh off the Minneapolis synth-pop outfit’s announcement of their fourth album. When We Stay Alive is due out January 31—just in time for you to learn all the lyrics before Poliça’s Mainroom show.
