FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, July 16, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
Storyhill is an acoustic folk duo that brings smart story songs, infectious melodies, and heartbreaking harmonies together in to one perfect package. Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson grew up and started performing together as teenagers while living in Bozeman, Montana. Thirty years later, their beautiful music and passionate performances have won critical acclaim and devoted fans all over the country. Join Storyhill at The Fitzgerald Theater on Saturday, November 9 as they celebrate 30 years of music making together.
The musical duo of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst, a.k.a. Shovels & Rope, have been married for a decade. Their covenant extends to blood and beyond: as parents, bandmates, and creative collaborators. Having released four studio albums since 2008, Trent and Hearst have built their reputation on skill, sweat, and, yes, blood. Now, with the tough and elegant new record By Blood, as well as their High Water Festival in their hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, and “Shovels & Rope: The Movie,” the band is primed for their biggest year yet. Don’t miss Shovels & Rope with Cedric Burnside at First Avenue on Sunday, October 20.
“It would be safe to say that the band are the figureheads of the Italian horror genre,” says FactMag of prog-rock group Goblin. They are “more popular, and indeed more influential than they ever have been at any time in the past.” Goblin performs the music of Dario Argento’s Italian slasher Profondo Rosso (Deep Red) set to a live screening of the film at The Fitzgerald Theater on Thursday, October 10.
FEATURED SHOWS:
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will, without a doubt, go down in history as one of the most unique & melodic hip hop groups of all time. Eazy-E signed the Cleveland group to his record label in 1993, and since then Bone Thugs have dropped many a hit single—"Thuggish Ruggish Bone," "1st of tha Month," and the Grammy Award-winning "Tha Crossroads," to name a few. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony—the only group out there that can say that they worked with late artists 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Big Pun while they were still alive—hit the Cabooze Outdoor Plaza with Shredders and Red Poets Society on Friday, July 19.
