FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, August 20, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
Aparna Nancherla brings her unique, unabashedly honest style of humor fit for “the kind of person who lies awake at night mulling their existence under late capitalism” (Vulture) to the Twin Cities this fall. Nancherla’s television credits include Netflix’s The Standups, Master of None, and LOVE, HBO’s High Maintenance, as well as Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer. Catch Aparna and Friends at The Parkway Theater on Friday, October 18.
King Diamond’s long-awaited album, The Institute, is set for release in 2020. The group’s first release since 2007 is accompanied by a nationwide tour—including a stop at the Palace Theatre on November 19. King Diamond is joined by Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats and Idle Hands.
Mandolin Orange’s music radiates a mysterious warmth—their songs feel like whispered secrets, one hand cupped to your ear. “Just like an old friend, kinder than expected,” says NPR of the duo. Mandolin Orange perform at the Palace Theatre on January 30, 2020.
FEATURED SHOWS:
Phantogram—the New York-born duo of Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel—has continued for almost a decade to challenge the zeitgeist with their signature blend of hard-hitting beats, guitar-driven dark psychedelia, and electronic pop. The duo’s tour stops at the Palace Theatre with Bob Moses on August 25.
It’s all about the North Side. The Intro To Success (ITS for short) team is made up of North Minneapolis born-and-raised creatives who are brought together by a common desire to support and uplift their community. This year they’ve created an event that amalgamates action, ideas, and community—all for the greater good of their beloved neighborhood. Read more about ITS Fest in the press release attached.
