89.3 The Current presents two nights of back-to-back music in the Mainroom at First Avenue to celebrateThe Current’s 13th Birthday Party. Friday, January 19 features Bully, Now, Now, The Social Animals, and deM atlaS; while Saturday, January 20 offers JD McPherson, Ron Gallo, Lady Lark, and Reina Del Cid. Tickets for both shows are on sale to the public Wednesday, December 20 at noon.

“If the term “safe space” doesn’t sound sexy to you, allow us to introduce Daddy, a new(ish) queer variety show and dance night” (City Pages). Following several sold out shows at Icehouse, Daddy MPLS bring their Queer Variety Show, featuring Nick Jordon (and more TBA), to the First Avenue Mainroom on Saturday, February 10. Tickets are on sale now.


Chuck Prophet & The Mission Express return to the Turf Club on Friday August 24 of next year, touring in support of his most recent release, Bobby Fuller Died for Your Sins. Described by Prophet as, “California Noir,” the record explores the tensions between romance and reality that lurks underneath the surface. Tickets for this show are on sale Friday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m.

First Avenue is the place to party this weekend. Friday, December 22 Flip Phone presents Bey Ball, A Semi-Formal Evening of Beyoncé, with five hours of non-stop Beyoncé hits. The night features pop-up drag performances from Domita Sanchez, Kamaree Williams, Sasha Carter Iman, and others. Saturday, December 23 marks the return of Klituation to the Mainroom, presented by DJ Keezy. This all-female lineup offers DJs, performers, artists, doers and makers; it’s more than a dance party, it’s a celebration of female empowerment. These events are 18+ and tickets will be available at the door.
