FIRST AVENUE WEEKLY PRESS RELEASE: Tuesday, June 11th, 2019
JUST ANNOUNCED:
For 45 years, Kronos Quartet has been blazing sonic trails, expanding notions of classical and chamber music, while regularly appearing at the Walker Art Center. Though the group has commissioned more than 1,000 works by an array of international composers, their deepest and longest-lasting relationship has been with pioneering minimalist Terry Riley. Their performance, presented by MPR and The Walker Art Center at The Fitzgerald Theater on Saturday, April 25 celebrates Riley’s 85th birthday.
The Daily Show Writers Stand-Up Show features the comics behind the jokes that make you laugh every night on Comedy Central's premiere late-night show. From making fun of their failed dating lives, being a cat owner, or talking Trump, this show has something for everyone! They’ll be at The Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, October 26. The live show features writer/comedians Matt Koff, Kat Radley, David Angelo, and Joe Opio.
Singer-songwriter Kaoru Ishibashi, better known as Kishi Bashi, will be at First Avenue on Monday, October 28. The title of Kishi Bashi’s most recent record, Omoiyari, “translates loosely as compassion based on empathy. The album’s songs glance at politics, but they concentrate on individual stories and relationships, seeking the individual humanity within the facts (The New York Times).”
