In memory of Prince: one year after his passing First Ave holds events for all ages
FIRST AVENUE CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF PRINCE:
ANNOUNCES LATE NIGHT DANCE PARTIES,
MEMORIAL STREET PARTY, AND KIDS DANCE PARTY
First Avenue will host a weekend celebrating the life of Prince, beginning Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23 in Downtown Minneapolis. Events include a street party, late night dance parties, and a kid-friendly event.
First Avenue and 89.3 The Current present a Memorial Street Party on Saturday, April 22. Minneapolis musicians will perform outdoors on 7th Street between North First Avenue and Hennepin Avenue. This event is free and open to all ages, but attendees must RSVP via the First Avenue website. Space for the Street Party is limited and RSVP does not guarantee admission. Guests should arrive early with their tickets, as this is a first-come, first-enter event. RSVP for the Memorial Street Party opens to the public on Wednesday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. RSVP will be available online via the First Avenue or Etix websites, and by phone via Etix at 1-800-514-3849.
The weekend also includes two Late Night Dance Parties, one on Friday, April 21 and the second on Saturday, April 22 in the First Avenue Mainroom. Friday’s Late Night Dance Party features DJ Espada, Lenka Paris, DJ Jake Rudh, and DJ Smitty; Saturday’s event features DJ Keezy, DJ Verb X, Shannon Blowtorch, and Cloud. Both Late Night Dance Parties are ticketed events and are age restricted to 18 and above. The Late Night Dance Parties go on sale to the public on Wednesday, April 12, with the Friday Dance Party going on sale at 11:00 a.m. and the Saturday Dance Party on sale at 12:00 p.m. Tickets for the Late Night Dance Parties can be purchased online via the First Avenue website, Etix website, by phone at 1-800-514-3849, and at The Depot Tavern and the Electric Fetus.
The weekend concludes with I Would Dance 4 U – A Kids Dance Party on Sunday, April 23 in the First Avenue Mainroom. This event is for kids (and adults) of all ages. This dance party is free with online RSVP for kids 17 and under; adults 18 and older may purchase tickets online or at The Depot Tavern. Tickets for adults and the RSVP for kids become available to the public on Wednesday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. RSVP and tickets will be available online via the First Avenue or Etix websites, and by phone via Etix at 1-800-514-3849.
