Extreme Sandboxs New RC Adventure Provides an Outdoor Challenge Course Specially Created for Radio Controlled Vehicles and Drones
Extreme adventures operator is the first and only facility in the U.S. with a drone obstacle course
HASTINGS, Minn. (April 22, 2015) -- Extreme Sandbox today opened its new extreme adventure attraction, RC Adventure, where visitors can operate radio controlled Traxxas Slash 4x4 off-road pickup trucks or DJI Phantom 2 drones on obstacle courses specifically designed for the devices. Extreme Sandbox is the first and only facility in the country offering a drone obstacle course for public use.
The idea started in 2014 when we began offering RC drone video footage to our customers as they played on our full-sized construction excavators, bulldozers and skid steers, said Randy Stenger, Extreme Sandbox owner. While filming a group event, we noticed that our customers and visitors started to huddle around our RC drone operator and they were really curious about how it worked. The drone became the hit of the event. Since then, we put our creative skills to use to develop a unique course and experiences to give our customers new challenges. Drones are super hot right now and we are thrilled to be the only place in the U.S. where people cannot only try them out, but also use them on a custom-made obstacle course.
Package costs are $40 per hour for an individual truck or drone rental and course access, or $200 per hour for a group/team building experience that includes four trucks, two drones and optional team challenges that put teamwork and communication skills to the test. Extreme Sandbox also welcomes visitors who have their own radio-controlled cars or trucks to use its track for $10 for an all-day pass or $99 for a yearly membership to access the track.
The Traxxas Slash 4x4 is the 2014 RC Action Readers Choice winner and the DJI Phantom 2 drone earns consistent praise in industry reviews for its smooth, easy operation and overall fun.
