Doggie Depot” to Take Place at Union Depot January 27; Canine Royalty Competition Submissions Being Accepted Now Through January 3
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (December 19, 2017) – Doggie Depot, the popular celebration of all things canine, will return to Union Depot in downtown St. Paul on Saturday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include rescue dog adoptions, a pet products vendor marketplace, Q & A with Katie K9 from MyTalk 107.1, and the crowning of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival doggie royal court – Canine-King Boreas and Canine-Queen of Snows. Submissions for the canine royalty competition are being accepted now through January 3 at www.facebook.com/uniondepot.
Sixteen Queen and 16 King canine finalists will be chosen to go tail-to-tail in the online Doggie Depot Bracket Contest in which the public can cast their vote from January 9 to 23 by visiting http://www.mytalk1071.com/doggie-depot. Representatives from Sidewalk Dog Media will be on hand to share tips about the Twin Cities’ most pet-friendly restaurants, retailers and more. Twenty area rescue organizations will have dogs available for adoption and 30 pet product vendors will sell wares in the marketplace. The annual Doggie Depot event at Union Depot offers families and rescue dogs the chance to meet in a safe, informative setting and results in many dogs finding their “forever home” and many families experiencing the joy of welcoming a four-legged lovable pet into their family. “We went to Doggie Depot last year planning to just familiarize ourselves with local rescues before adopting later in the year,” said Asa Posner who adopted pooch Royce Biden at the 2017 event. “We should have known better. Once we met Royce’s litter, it was clear that we were going to end up welcoming a dog to our home sooner than expected.” Doggie Depot is free and open to the public and guests are encouraged to bring their dogs to Union Depot for this special event, which is the only time dogs are allowed inside the venue. There will be fun activities for guests and their dogs, and a pet photographer will be on hand to capture photos. There are several parking options near Union Depot and the venue’s Lots B and C will be only $4 during the event. The Securian Winter Run will take place in downtown St. Paul on the morning of Doggie Depot and there will be some road closures near Union Depot so visitors are encouraged to arrive early for the event. To view a map showing road closures, and for more information and a list of participating vendors and rescue organizations, visit www.uniondepot.org/doggiedepot.
