A native of Sydney, Jefferies (a.k.a. Geoff Nugent) first found an audience for his comedy in Britain before moving to Los Angeles a few years ago. He has filled theaters in the United States since 2009 when he boosted his profile with a popular one-hour HBO special, I Swear to God, and sold several series concepts along the way. Legit, where Jeffries plays himself as an agreeable lug bumbling through his life and relationships, is the first to make it to viewers.
He has also been seen on HBOs Down and Dirty with Jim Norton.
Jefferies is acclaimed as a headline performer in Canada, Asia, South Africa, Europe and the U.K. He first achieved international popularity after he was attacked onstage while performing at the Manchester Comedy Store and later incorporated the incident into his act and in a home video release, Contraband. In England, he has appeared on such shows as ITV2's Comedy Cuts" and If.Com Eddies, as well as on BBC1s "Heaven & Earth," BBC2s "Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Have I Got News for You. Jefferies was also on Channel 4's The History of Offensive Humor," as well as "The World Stands Up and Edinburgh and Beyond for the Paramount Comedy Channel.
Jefferies has performed at numerous festivals. At the famed Edinburgh Festival, he did a month-long, sold-out run of his critically acclaimed, smash-hit new solo show, Hammered, and is one of Edinburghs most successful acts several years running. He was the talk of the Montreal "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival in 2007, wowing audiences with his performances in the Nasty Show. He has also played the South African Comedy Festival Cape Town, Reading and Leeds Festivals and the Glastonbury Festival.
