(Minneapolis, MN) Produced by Troupe America, Inc., the one-woman comedy. BIG PANTS & BOTOX makes its Twin Cities debut at the Plymouth Playhouse opening Thursday, May 5 and continues through August 14, 2016.
The hit comedy, BIG PANTS & BOTOX, written by Louise Roche, who is also credited with the popular GIRLS NIGHT, takes the audience on an emotional roller-coaster ride as she tells the sometimes comical, sometimes emotional and always inspirational tale of Barbara and her journey having just survived an eventful ‘significant’ birthday. The story follows her struggles with turning 50 and everything else that comes with reaching middle age. Her husband is addicted to gambling and can’t be found anywhere, her family is overbearing, she’s raising her daughter and fitting time in for her friends who are fun and wacky while weighing the benefits of ‘Big Pants and Botox’. Barbara inspires self-reflection no matter what age.
BIG PANTS & BOTOX invites audiences to ditch the romance and fluff for a hilarious, emotional and ultimately uplifting evening. It’s a great girlfriend’s night out! Both critics and audiences have high praise for Roche’s comedy. The Liverpool Echo called it “a funny, moving and ultimately uplifting story of one woman’s refusal to slide gently into middle age.” According to the Manchester Evening News, “Louise Roche has an instinctive understanding of what makes women tick.” Audiences raved, “A must see... it was funny and at times made you think about life... a tremendous blend of humor and poignancy...even the men thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Appearing as Barbara and a dozen other characters is Kimberly Richards, everyone’s favorite “Sister” from LATE NITE CATECHISM. Richards is the only actor in North America to perform the role of Barbara. She regularly performs Sister in the LATE NITE CATECHISM series across the US and Canada and is familiar to Twin Cities audiences having performed LATE NITE CATECHISM in March 2015 at Plymouth Playhouse and more than 150 performances as Sister at St. Paul’s Ordway Center and the New Century Theatre, Hennepin Theatre Trust, Minneapolis.
BIG PANTS & BOTOX was first produced at the Middlebrough Theatre (England) in June 2011 followed by performances in February 2012 at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End starring British stage and screen celebrity, Rebecca Wheatley that launched a British national tour garnering critical acclaim. The show received it’s American premier in Minnesota at the T.B. Sheldon Theatre in Red Wing, Minnesota November 2012 followed by productions in New York and a recent 2016 Canadian premier at the Rose Theatre in Brampton, Canada.
BIG PANTS & BOTOX is produced by Troupe America Inc. and Entertainment Events, Inc. a New York based company that has previously brought Minnesota such hits as the LATE NITE CATECHISM series and TONY Nʼ TINAʼS WEDDING.
