2013 Irish Fair of Minnesota celebrates Irish heritage and culture

IRISH FAIR OF MINNESOTA

St. Paul, Minn. (July 31, 2013) --- The 2013 Irish Fair of Minnesota, a three-day annual celebration of Irish heritage and culture, will be held Friday, August 9 through Sunday, August 11 on Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minn. With nearly 100,000 attendees each year, this event is the largest free celebration of its kind in the Upper Midwest.
Once again, the Irish Fair of Minnesota will provide a family-friendly experience featuring a multitude of activities, including traditional music, Irish dance, Gaelic sports, a Childrens Tent,
an Irish Authors Literary Corner, native Irish dogs, the Best Legs in a Kilt Contest, a variety of Irish shopping opportunities, and an array of food and beverage options to enjoy.
The festivities will also include a short fundraiser to help keep the Irish Fair free, the Couch Potato Zero K a three-foot foot race. It costs only $25 to participate and at the finish line,
racers will receive a souvenir t-shirt, a pint of Finnegans (if of age, of course) and a bag of Barrel O Fun potato chips.
From internationally-known to locally-grown, the three entertainment stages will feature some of the best Irish music. A sampling of bands already booked include: Gaelic Storm, Screaming Orphans, FullSet, The Belfast Cowboys, The Tossers, Boiled in Lead, Wild Colonial Bhoys, Katie McMahon, HiBs, The Irish Brigade, Hounds of Finn, and The Tim Malloys.
Hours for the 2013 Irish Fair are Friday, August 9 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, August 10 from 9 a.m. to 11pm. and Sunday, August 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
