Minnesota State Fair
August 24 - September 4
Each year summer ends with one of the largest regional celebrations and excuses to postpone fall diets or back to school responsibilities. The Minnesota State Fair, or “Great Minnesota Get-Together,” is one of the most looked forward to event in the state and occurs during the last week of August through Labor day. Live music, interactive displays, rides, shows, contests, auctions and much more are influenced by local culture to help ensure the ultimate Midwest experience! And of course, we can’t forget about the food. You can find some of the most unique bites and more only at the Minnesota State Fair.

Milly City Farmers Market
Every Saturday, 8am-1pm
If local, sustainable produce and artisan goods are your love language, Mill City Farmers Market is speaking fluently to your heart. With over 100 vendors offering prepared food, produce, body care, and crafts, this market—founded in 2006—sits between the Mill City Museum and the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis’ Downtown East neighborhood. The market also offers free cooking classes with local chefs, children’s activities, a zero-waste compostable dishware initiative, free outdoor yoga, live music from buskers, and excellent views of the Mississippi River.
Minnesota Twins Baseball
August 24 - 27
Baseball season is in full swing for the Minnesota Twins. They will take the field against the Texas Rangers for a 4 game home-stand. Catch any one of their games at Target Field Stadium.

Minnesota Lynx Basketball
August 22 & 26
Watch the Minnesota Lynx fight for a playoff spot this season. They will host conference rivals the Dallas Wings on August 22 and one of the top teams in the league the New York Liberty on August 26 at Target Center.

Crayfish Party
August 25
The American Swedish (ASI) Institute is a campus cultural center with a vibrant arts scene that represents the Nordic heritage and strong Swedish influence found within Minneapolis. This year they are putting on a Kräftskiva celebration, a traditional annual crayfish party celebrated throughout Sweden and here in the U.S. The Crayfish Party features great food and music on the ASI lawn, snaps drinking, sing-alongs, and much more. (funky hat and bib provided). The event features heaps of crayfish brined with dill and sides like bread, cheese, and aquavit. Hat-and-bib-wearing guests sing drinking songs such as Helan Går and down a complimentary celebratory shot of aquavit (for guests ages 21+).
ReVisión: Art in the Americas
Now on Display
ReVisión: Art in the Americas is a special exhibition on showcase at the Minneapolis Art Institute. Featuring nearly 130 objects from the Denver Art Museum’s Ancient and Latin American collections, this exhibition tells a visually compelling narrative about the formation of the Americas from 100 BCE to today. The thematic presentation explores land, people, and place by linking ancient and contemporary artworks that address political and social issues at the heart of the region’s cultural heritage.
