Explore the Arctic with Lonnie Dupre: Tales of Adventure and Survival
Join us for an exciting afternoon with a Minnesota native Arctic explorer Lonnie Dupre!
Over the course of 5 years and 5000 miles, Lonnie along with John Hoelscher from Australia completed the first and only human-powered circumnavigation of Greenland by dog sled and kayak. During that expedition they discovered ancient Inuit encampments on the east coast, encountered the world’s northernmost wolves and charted new routes in the northwest. Don’t miss the firsthand stories of adventure and survival!
Dupre has also accomplished other incredible feats, including the first Pacific to Atlantic winter traversal of the Northwest Passage by dog sled, the first human-powered summer expedition to the North Pole by sled and canoe, the first solo winter ascent of Alaska’s Mt. Denali to name a few.
Dupre was honored with the Rolex Award for Enterprise for bringing attention to the impacts of climate change through his expeditions.
