Legends of Baba Yaga: Tea, Tales and Tradition
Step into the world of Baba Yaga with TMORA’s Curator, Dr. Masha Zavialova, as your guide. Known both as a fearsome witch and a wise woman, Baba Yaga’s character embodies a fascinating dichotomy in Slavic folklore: she is both a figure of terror and a source of wisdom. On this special evening, Dr. Zavialova will bring Baba Yaga’s mythology to life, weaving together stories that reveal her complex role in folklore and the generations of tales that have kept her legend alive.
Enjoy tea and sweets while learning about the history surrounding this legendary figure. View Baba Yaga-themed nesting dolls from our current exhibition A Thousand Nesting Dolls, along with a special item from TMORA’s collection brought out exclusively for this event.
This event is designed for adults and daring children ages 10 and up – if they’re not too scared by Baba Yaga’s mysterious tales!(Baba Yaga-inspired attire is most welcome).
