3. Birchbark Books & Native Arts

Books are always a great and thoughtful gift. Support an independent and Minneapolis favorite bookshop, Birchbark where they carefully select and hand-picked titles, including works from many Native American and local authors. The store is also filled with Native American crafts and hand-made items including quillwork, traditional basketry, silverwork, dreamcatchers, and Indigenous paintings all created by local, regional, and southwestern artisans.

4. 14 Hill Gift shop

This small little boutique has a ton of fun gifts for all ages. Everything from home-goods to puzzles to apparel. You can also find a lot of cool designs that represent some hometown pride. There are plenty of items showing off the best of Minnesota and the city of Minneapolis. The selection here is carefully curated and is the perfect place for everyone on your holiday shopping list.

Want to give the gift of self-care? Kobi Co. is a luxury candle and wellness company that offers a variety of candles, bath salts, body sprays, bath bombs, and wax melts.

6. Sistah Co-op

This space is dedicated to local entrepreneurs of color. It’s a collaborative shop featuring things like luxurious handmade hair & skincare products, African clothing and purses and handmade jewelry. Find it on the skyway level of the IDS Center.

7. Mercado Central

This marketplace with over 35 businesses all run by Latinx business owners has a ton of shopping options. It is made up of small little shops and authentic restaurants, so if you get hungry you know you’ll be eating well. Here you can get all kinds of goods you would find in Mexico and other Latin American countries.

8. Departments at Dayton Holiday Market

Every holiday season The Dayton's Project holds a market for local artisans on it's first floor. The market starts November 14, 2024 and will remain open through December 28. Seventy different vendors selling things like gourmet foods, clothing, jewelry, accessories and home goods. Local artists will also be on hand selling their work.

The market will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Monday - Saturday: 10am - 6pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm

10. Mill City Farmers Market

Minneapolis loves its farmers markets and when winter comes around, they don’t go away they just move indoors. Decorated for the season and offering up seasonal treats, these winter markets feature local artists and vendors selling plenty of hand-made gifts and goods. One of these markets is the Mill City Farmers Market held inside the Mill City Museum on the first and third Saturday of each month.

This local chain has thoughtful gifts that include things like home decor, jewelry, fragrances, stationery, gifts and toys. They have and extensive selection that make browsing around this store a fun time. You may even want to pick up a few things for yourself.

12. Museum Gift Shops

Minneapolis is home to several museums, and most have unique gift shops perfect for holiday shopping. Find traditional Matryoshka dolls at The Museum of Russian Art, dala horses, holiday gnomes and ornaments at the American Swedish Institute, DIY science kits at several science museums across the city and more. Admission to each museum is not required to shop, but you'll probably want to check out the latest exhibit on view while you're there.
