We couldn't be the City by Nature without the Minneapolis park system. It's the foundation of our marketing messaging, in a way that both encapsulates and illustrates our brand, culture and values through an asset shared by visitors and locals alike. When Meet Minneapolis rebranded five years ago, we conducted extensive research to determine how we could define our city to visitors in a way that truly distinguished us from other cities. That distinction also needed to be real and tangible. Our City by Nature brand evolved organically and has served us well in marketing Minneapolis to the world.
The park system's #1 ranking has elevated our brand on a national and international level, attracting media attention and tourism from all around the globe. Regardless of where our visitors originate from, enjoyment of the natural beauty of our surroundings through access to the multitude of parks throughout Minneapolis is something that connects us all.
Jayne Miller, the Superintendent of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board serves as a Meet Minneapolis board member and we have had a great partnership with the MPRB. Regarding the fourth-straight best park system award, Jayne said, “we’re honored by the top ranking, but not resting on our laurels. We are working continuously to improve our parks, with a focus on the most racially diverse and economically challenged areas of the city.”
So congratulations Jayne and her team at the MPRB on this great honor. We are proud that the City by Nature brand reflects this unparalleled asset.
