How COVID-19 is Affecting Our Community
The travel/hospitality industry, through this implosion, has finally – and ironically – been recognized as the economic juggernaut travel and hospitality advocates, such as Meet Minneapolis, have touted for years. Americans – and other around the world – now see that the strength of our great industry is vital to local, national and global economies. But this is no time for “I told you so” or any other type of self-promotion. Instead, it is time for us to face this situation head-on by:
- Making sure that the health and welfare needs of our fellow citizens are being met in this time of hoarding and sometimes scarce resources;
- Doing all we can to support those businesses that are continuing to serve the community by looking for ways to patronize them;
- Contacting local, state and federal elected officials to ensure they remember the devastation to the travel/hospitality industry that has been wrought and to make sure we are a part of any stimulus plan;
- Using our time wisely to formulate plans to reintroduce our industry, at the appropriate time, to a world that will be hungry for the types of experiences our partner businesses can deliver. Such a campaign needs to be aggressive but sensitive and well-timed.
Meet Minneapolis will continue to provide you with resources to help navigate this unprecedented set of circumstances. From maintaining close contact with our partners businesses and closely aligned business associations to working with our meeting and event customers who must cancel or postpone scheduled activities, the team at Meet Minneapolis wants to be your trusted resource more than ever.

As our new video so aptly says: #WeGotThisMPLS.
