Becca Kufrin Favorites
You can take the girl out the Midwest, but you can’t take the Midwest out of the girl. Former star of "The Bachelorette" and Minnesota native, Becca Kufrin shares her favorite Minneapolis hangouts and offers some dating advice for anyone looking for love.
1. What do you love most about the city of Minneapolis?
It will always be a spot near and dear to my heart, but there’s something about the variety that it has to offer that can’t be beat. Especially when the weather is nice, there are so many outdoor activities, and it’s just clean, fresh, and the people are so kind. You know what they say—Midwest is best!
2. What are your favorite Minneapolis date spots for a:
- Coffee date? Uncommon Grounds Coffee House, Uptown
- Dinner date? Bar La Grassa, North Loop
- Late night drinks? The Back Bar at Young Joni, Northeast
3. Best wine bar?
Terzo in South Minneapolis.
4. What is your favorite thing to do in Minneapolis?
When the weather allows—being on the lake in the summer is my ultimate happy place. Luckily, there’s no shortage of them! I love renting paddle boards on Bde Maka Ska and floating through the chain of lakes to Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake. I know the weather isn’t always perfect, so when it’s chilly, I love just eating and drinking my way through the city with friends.
5. If you only had a few hours to be a tourist, which neighborhood would you go to first?
If I only had a few hours, I’d definitely be in Linden Hills. Not only is there a slew of incredible restaurants (Tilia or Rosalia are my go-tos), but it also has one of my favorite childhood bookstores (Wild Rumpus). Nothing like grabbing a coffee or ice cream cone at Sebastian Joe’s and wandering through the aisles of the bookshop or cute boutiques in the area. And bonus is that it’s so close to Lake Harriet!
6. What is your advice to someone looking for love?
Make sure you’re fully ready for it, don’t force a relationship if it isn’t right or the timing is off. And never change yourself for someone else.
7. Describe your perfect date.
I’m pretty low key, so I don’t need anything wildly adventurous, especially for a first date. I am a huge foodie and wine lover, so anything that includes wine tasting, tapas sharing, and a culinary experience is my favorite. That way it still leaves room for great conversation, while filling my belly and soul.
8. Favorite hotel in Minneapolis?
The Hewing Hotel. It offers such a great location, unique vibes, delicious cocktails and the rooftop hot tub can’t be beat!
9. Any advice for future bachelorettes?
For bachelorettes on the show, I’d say buckle up and be ready for some very fun, unique, and sometimes uncomfortable situations. But the main thing I would say to anyone who is wedding planning and about to get married is to soak in the entire experience and really appreciate all of the people, moments, and experiences that will come. Stay open the possibilities of what a future can hold if you’re totally open and present for your partner.
